Vitamin C ...
Professor Alan Clemetson introduced the term Hypo-vitaminosis C.

Dr. Robert Cathcart explains why he recommends Vit. C. therapy

on "treating major infections"
Vitamin C dosages: 100g, 200g, 300g - quantities depending on bowl tolerance. "Secret weapon for football players - protecting against infection and bruising."

...driving a reducing redox potential into the affected organs (nose and throat) … eliminates the symptoms …

If it augments the cellular immunity enough - so that the cells are able to eat up the virus, then you're well in a day. … If the virus can escape that, then they have to wait until the immune system takes over. We have found that these massive doses of ascorbate are extremely helpful in hay fever and asthma.

Not talking about a lack of Vit. C–
Increased destruction of ascorbic acid is caused by:
ageing, smoking, infection, trauma, surgery, hormone administration, heavy metals, pregnancy, hemolisis, ionising radiation, aspirin, alcohol, and other drugs.

The adrenal glands have the highest concentration of ascorbic acid in the body and when you are under stress the Vit. C is burned up in your body, causing Hypo-vitaminosis C.

Suppression of immune system or easy bruising, lack of memory, more wrinkles, ageing more rapidly and degenerative disc disease. Vit. C is extremely important for build-up of collagen fibres and dentine - herniating discs torn tendons - e.g. rupture Achilles tendon or bursitis of the shoulder where the rip the rotator cuff and thinks like that. Osteoporosis is a bone matrix deficiency - Vit. C. Zinc, manganese, chromium, selenium, Vit. E, Vit. B. boron and and exercise and all these things help to build up bone matrix.

All other animals, except for man, monkey, the Guinea pig, the African fruit-eating bat, make ascorbate. … they make ascorbate in their liver like we make saliva. There is this one gluten enzyme called L-Glutamine lactate oxidase that we lack genetically. This happened about 65 million years ago, up in the trees, the higher primates where they were living in sparse populations and dirty things were falling to the ground.

It developed these arms and hands and they were picking up clean things and one of our distance cousins that survived that didn't produce ascorbate. It had this interesting advantage: You might say, well if this is so important how come we would have lost it? Well, the thing is that these other animals don't get ascorbate for free. They make it from glucose, so maybe 20% of what your other animals eat goes into making ascorbate. That means that we are better at starvation than other animals. Humans really are good at starvation. …

It is truly amazing how long people can go without food.
A wild animal will probably burn itself up making ascorbate faster than humans. So, I think that was the advantage. Now, when the monkeys came out of the trees and started herding large civilisation, then, diseases like cholera and plague and smallpox would wipe out small percentages of the world population, until I got modern sanitation.

And I think immunisation has helped a little bit, which, by the way, the question about immunisation - I say whether you should be immunised or not depends upon your skill at taking Vitamin C. If you get to be skilled at taking Vitamin C, don't take the immunisations. That's just my opinion. (19:40)

Anyway, Vit. C is extremely effective in treating various allergies. It increases healing and I think it prevents osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is also caused by indigenously produced cortisone. This is one of the things that the doctors don't talk about. But when you have an allergic reaction. When you're stressed or when you have a chronic infection your body makes adrenaline and or cortisone to try and block the inflammation caused by these situations. Now, the Adrenaline type person is the type-A personality whose very volitive and the type-B personality is more heavy-set, collects fluid – most people are crosses in-between but predni-cortisone causes osteoporosis. I think this is one of the causes of osteoporosis – these hidden infections. …

[summary: off all sugars and on an anti-yeast program high doses of Vit. C to deal with (non-urinary tract) chronic candida - predominantly women infected 4 or 5 to 1.] - Vit. C. Zinc, manganese, chromium, selenium, Vit. E, Vit. B. boron.

First of all, these cells make anti-bodies, and when a B-cell is born in the body it takes on a random combination of the type of anti-bodies that it makes. It goes around and tries to match the chemicals on the surfaces of cells and when an immature B cell matches something it dies. When a mature B Cell matches something it multiplies and produces anti-bodies of that shape.

What happens - we're born with millions of different B Cells making millions of different anti-bodies except for the ones that exactly fit the chemicals on the surfaces of our cells. Now what when we get an infection, like a cold, our immune system is up-regulated for a few days and that's okay. But if we get chronic candidiasis or epstein barr, herpes 6 or we have chronic allergies or something like that is happening all the time, that produce free radicals, this chronically up-regulates the immune system and we start coding in sensitivity reactions either to the 'bug' itself or to foods and chemicals that we are exposed to. Like, for instance, if every time you have a cold you stay home and eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and a glass of milk when you are a kid, you are likely to be allergic to those things. If I see an oriental, I'm more suspicious of rice, for instance. There are exceptions to all this. Anyway, then, we find that sometimes then the anti-bodies to either the bug or the food or the chemical cross-reacts with different organs of the body and like if cross-reacts to the thyroid you get thyroiditis or skin you get a skin rash or to your blood vessels you get lupus or your joints you get rheumatoid arthritis. I treat all these things as the same thing and it is surprising how many people go into remission. I have particularly good results with lupus patients…. (24:00)

A normal stomach doesn't have trouble with ascorbic acid. Ascorbic acid has a pH of 3.5. Hydrochloric acid has a pH of 1 - a thousand times more acid than ascorbic acid, so if ascorbic acid burns your GI tract, you got a problem - you ought to take care of it. I put them all on the anti-candida program. I think even viruses and bacteria - I know helicobacter doesn't seem to like the anti-yeast program. I got very excited when I first heard about helicobacter - there was a triple therapy which was ampicillin, flagellin, pepto-bismol and I found that some of my chemically sensitive people didn't do very well on flagellin and then after I'd done about half a dozen people, checking their blood and all that, after about 6 months what happened was that we found that they got well just as fast as the people on the anti-yeast program.
